DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RESILIENCE AND CLEAN ENERGY INITIATIVES

Full-Time

Salary: Based on Qualification

Location: Baltimore, MD

Reports to: Founder and Managing Member

Job Summary:

We are seeking a visionary and mission-driven Director of Community Resilience and Energy Efficiency Initiatives to lead the strategic planning and implementation of programs that strengthen community resilience and promote energy justice.

This leadership role will be central to advancing our mission by managing complex projects, forging strategic partnerships, ensuring compliance with environmental and housing regulations, and driving measurable impact across our portfolio of initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in environmental science, energy efficiency, community development, and project management, along with a deep commitment to equity, sustainability, and community empowerment.

About Women’s Home Preservation:

The Women’s Home Preservation is a mission-driven real estate development firm dedicated to transforming structurally disinvested communities with a focus on creating edifying housing for women who are heads of households (single mothers, widows). We purchase vacant properties that create blight in communities and we redevelop them into mixed-use commercial and residential properties. Our commercial rehabilitations fill the amenity gaps in our communities (café, hardware stores, art galleries, etc), while our residential rehabilitations create high-end energy efficient and resilient homes that drastically transform the health of our communities.

Our approach is to restore the social and cultural rather than the built environment only. For this reason, we co-create with the community. Working hand in hand with a community, we bring about projects of scale and significance to force a paradigm shift in one’s view of a community. Where one would expect another small rehab, we bring on the power of our high-caliber partners to execute on our bold and transformative visions. Concurrently with the built activities, we work with the community to develop the cultural, political, and socioeconomic dimensions of our projects.

Since 2020, we have been at the forefront of clean energy and community resilience, spearheading transformative projects such as the redevelopment of vacant properties into Passive House-certified affordable housing and retail spaces, as well as the creation of Baltimore's first community microgrid. Our mission is supported by partnerships with leading architects, contractors, and government agencies like the Maryland Energy Administration. Our work ensures an equitable transition to clean energy for underserved neighborhoods.
